Practice Pitching Your Tent at Home
Set aside enough time to work through the manufacturer's instructions without rushing. A practice pitch can reveal missing parts before they become a campsite problem.
Start with the practical details
Lay out the body, poles, stakes and fly in the order you will use them. Identify any clips or sleeves that look similar but serve different parts of the setup.
Make the plan flexible
Practice packing the shelter too. Check how the pieces fit together and whether you can find the instructions after everything is packed.
Try this on your next trip
Write down one setup detail that was easy to forget and store it with the tent. Keep the manufacturer's instructions with it.
