Planning
Read a Campground Map Before Booking
Look at how roads, facilities and neighboring sites relate to the spot you are considering. A map can reveal more about convenience than a single site photograph.
Start with the practical details
If quiet matters, look at the path between the loop and shared facilities. If walking distance matters more, choose a shorter route to the facilities you expect to use.
Make the plan flexible
Ask the operator about details the map cannot show, including slope, shade or the location of an accessible route.
Try this on your next trip
Compare two plausible sites and record one tradeoff for each. That makes it easier to choose when the first option is unavailable.
